2nd prize at Google Statup Weekend in Limerick

I recently attended Start-up Weekend Limerick where I had an amazing time. The idea is you start Friday at six O Clock, come up with new ideas, form groups and by Six O'clock on Sunday you develop and pitch your business idea.

Over the weekend our little company formed, merged, split and pivoted. It was at times stressful and frustrating but it was amazing fun and an amazing experience. Some teams developed working mobile apps, websites and products over the two days. On Sunday the last day we realized the original idea wasn't working so our team decided to start from scratch.

We came up with the idea of an Mobile app and a website for the Haulage industry that would allow a company like a quarry to post and manage jobs and of Haulier to bid on those jobs. We decided since we only had a few hours on the last day to write the pitch and let that dictate where we needed to do work.

Eoin Kelleher worked on the main structure of the slides and the pitch. Criomhthann McCarthy worked on the market research and I worked on the software design. I quickly mocked these up in Balsamiq.

Eoin took the lions share of the pitch, I went through the technology and Criomhthann had the answers for any though followup questions.

Considering the timescale and the fact that we scrapped the work we had done in the first two days we extremely surprised to have come second. Overall it was an amazing experience, it compressed the ups, downs and drama of a startup into two and a bit days, it felt like a lot longer but I can't wait for the next one.

Thanks very much to everyone involved in organizing this event.
